Mr Nookayya, which was earlier titled Nokia, is bearing the brunt of mobile company Nokia. The movie release was halted at multiplexes on the release day after the cellphone company sent a notice to the theatres not to screen the movie.
According to reports, Nokia Corporation & Nokia India Pvt Ltd brought legal notice from the Delhi High Court on February 6, 2012 for using the registered trademark of the company. The court had barred the movie bosses from using the title Nokia and from having an identical or deceptively similar title. But the movie bosses, despite getting restraining order, kept Mr Nookayya, which made the cell company to approach the court again to stop the film from being screened.
Sharing his anguish over the company, Manchu Manoj tweeted, ““Good morning guys :) Nokia company is trying to stop our movie in all multiplexes :(( they r claiming Nookaiah and Nokia is same...(sic).” The actor claims that Mr Nookayya is the name of a God.
