Prabhu Deva started his directional career with Telugu romantic movieNuvvostanante Nenoddantana, which went on to become a blockbuster in 2005. Though he was showered with offers, he chose to direct a film or two in a year. He opted action films over romantic genre films and succeeded. Now, he is back to love oriented movie with Ninnu Chusthe Love Vasthundi. The choreographer-turned-director roped in chocolate hero Jayam Ravi and Chinna Khushboo Hansika Motwani for the breezy entertainer.
Story:
Billionaire Kamal (Jayam Ravi) has a habit of taking a month off from his busy work schedule to relax and enjoy the life. After a hectic 12 month, he decides go to Paris. He wants to enjoy every minute of his vacation and disconnects his mobile to avoid disturbance. On the other hand, Kayalvizhi aka Kayal (Hansika Motwani) is a violinist, who is settled in France. In their very first encounter itself, she saves him from getting killed.Unlike every film, hero will not fall in love with heroine. It is just the opposite of it in Ninnu Chuste Love Vastundi . It is a love at first sight for her and she expresses the same to him. But Kamal, who does not believe in love, rejects her proposal and moves to India. A year later, they catch up again at the same place. The rest of the story should be seen on-screen.
Performance:
Jayam Ravi has given his best performance. It is a tailor-made story and character for him. Especially, he has worked on his expressions and reduced his weight for this film, which are clearly visible on screen. Hansika Motwani, who is referred as junior Kushboo, has given excellent performance. Her chemistry has gelled well with Ravi. In fact, they share an excellent on-screen chemistry. Raju Sundaram gives the audience comic relief through his dialogues. Rest other characters like Suman, Marion Arnaud have done justice to their roles.
Technical:
When it comes to the technical team, musician Harris Jayaraj and cinematographer Nirav Shah steal the show. The music director has given one of the best tunes for this film and he also rocks with his background score. And the cameramen has wonderfully captured the beautiful locales in his lens. It is an eye feast. They are the behind the screen heroes of Ninnu Chuste Love Vastundi . Rest other departments have given their best. All these credits should go to Prabhu Deva for making such a jolly and a cheerful film. He has taken best out of every cast and crew of the film.
Verdict:
In the nutshell, though the movie has quite a few loopholes, it is avoidable, as Ninnu Chusthe Love Vasthundi is a complete family entertainer. Especially, young couples will surely like this film. It is a great experience to watch the love story at France backdrop.
Veteran movie director R.P.Patnaik has come up with his second offering as a movie director with the film ‘Friends Book’. The movie has Nischal, Uday, Archana, Surya, Suresh and Nisha Shetty in lead roles. Welfare Creations group has produced the movie. Let us see how the movie is.
Story :
Nischal (Nischal), Akshay (Uday), Surya (Surya), Nithya (Archana) and Madhu (Archana Shetty) are a gang of childhood friends. The friends are employed in various walks of life, ranging from Software Engineer to Crime Lab operative. They are all very unhappy with their jobs and they share a common goal of setting up a profitable business. To achieve this, they quit and set about creating a software that identifies and removes fake accounts from the popular social networking site Facebook. They succeed in their design and submit a proposal to Facebook. Their proposal is accepted and just when everything seems to be going in their favour, a shocking twist happens.
What is that twist? Will they succeed in making money out of their venture? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
Surya, Nischal and Suresh have done a good job. Their performance is neat and they have done justice to their roles. Archana and Nisha Shetty are just about ok in terms of performance. Rao Ramesh steals the thunder with a good performance in a role that has negative shades.
The first half is breezy and the suspense angle is maintained right till the end of the film. Comedy is ok in a few places. Direction of R.P.Patnaik is good in the first half as the story is set up pretty neatly. A few songs have been shot well.
Minus Points:
The director has no clarity on the technical side of the story, so there are glaring mistakes. There are silly mistakes in the concept of a software identifying fake accounts and the way it goes about doing it. Another silly point – Can a dead person’s Athma come online and chat with friends on Facebook?
The second half of the film is very bad and there are glaring mistakes in screenplay. The ‘Nigeria comedy’ scenes have not come out well and they test the patience of the viewers. There is no clarity in the message the director wanted to convey and the story keeps meandering between a psychological thriller and a murder mystery.
Technical Aspects :
Background score is very good but R.P.Patnaik should have stayed away from singing the onlysong in the movie. His voice just does not suit the song at all. Editing is jerky and could have been better. Dialogues are ok and they hint at the importance of friends over parents (Sad).
Cinematography is poor and visuals are not exciting enough.
Verdict :
R.P.Patnaik triend to do too many things at once in this movie and he ends up doing a poor job with all of them. There is absolutely no logic in much of the film and you can safely stay away from this ‘thriller’. Spend time on your Facebook account instead.

Performances
Neku Naku introduces 42 debutants to Tollywood. The lead actor Prince is tall and handsome and has delivered a good performance as a debutant. But his acting reminds us of Mahesh Babu in certain scenes. His dances are good.
Lead lady Nanditha is convincing and she looked glamorous all the film. She pulled off her role with ease and style. Nanditha is talented and impressive.
Jai, Venu are decent and the person who has done Bapineedu role is justifying. Paruchuri Venkateswara is good. Suman Shetty needs a special mention among the cast who provided a good comic relief. Others were adequate.
The basic story line is interesting and the first half is actually not too bad.
Technical Analysis
For the first time, a film has been shot with red epic camera but the cinematography is pretty average. Cinematography is good in places. Yashwanth’s music is good but the background score by Anoop Rubens is below average. Dialogues are rustic and good in places. Editing could have been much better. Teja’s direction is comparatively better than his last releases but the screenplay is highly predictable in the second half. Production Values were okay.
Analysis
Teja has come up with a distinct yet thin storyline of liquor mafia backdrop but the screenplay is highly predictable in the lines of his own films Jayam, Nijam, Avunnana Kadanna. Few of the scenes are too raw with rusty dialogues. The narration and presentation reminds you of the director’s routine and regular films. The first half of the movie totally reminds of Shopping Mall and Mynaa storyline but it was presented in Teja’s style. The climax is another let down and fails to grab your interest. Heroine Nanditha comes as surprise and she will have a bright future in Tollywood and apart from this, the film has hardly countable interesting scenes.

Films made with honesty are a rarity in Tollywood these days. But Tollywood is back with two genuine films in the past 2 weeks. After the sophisticated and subtle Panja which went beyond formula, Tollywood witnesses another genuine film in the name of Rajanna.
Rajanna to begin with is a no-pretentious film. It could have been completely centered around Rajanna explaining his heroics and could have easily been a biography of a patriot. But the narrative begins and ends with a girl called Mallamma. It is her journey through her village which is still under the shackles of landlords to Delhi to meet Prime Minister to explain the woes of her villagers. (The plot has been cleverly told to Media before the release in a smart move by Nagarjuna).
Even though the movie is directed by Vijayendra Prasad( Father of Rajamouli), the movie has Rajamouli stamp all over it. The first 1 hour of the movie about Mallamma is visual poetry. The songs by MM Keeravani are a delight and the mood is set pretty well. Nagarjuna should be appreciated to be a part of commercial movie in which he does not appear for almost an hour. To back such a project from Annapurna Studios is such a good thing for Tollywood.
The movie switches tone immediately after the arrival of Rajanna. Actually the setting is good, the mood has been created, everything is set in place but Rajanna just sails through the mood. He elevates the mood in certain sequences which are well executed but he does not take the audience through an emotion which the audience anticipate when they are watching a period film. It is very inappropriate to say Nagarjuna has done injustice to the character. He has given his career best performance in the song “veyira veyi”, he emotes through his eyes but the character is such a dynamic character and this film could have been on the ranks of Alluri Seetaramaraju had this character worked instead of just surviving through the film.
Rajanna misses out on being an epic film but it is surely a genuine attempt. The music is extrordinary(a big contender for National Award) and the child actress is simply amazing. Among other departments Cinematography is excellent. Action scenes conceived by SS Rajamouli are good but leave us in a sense of wanting for more. This might also be because they are a rehash of his earlier fights like Magadheera.
The whole idea of making the patriotic scenes work through action sequences is a draw back because partiotism is more about drama and the drama needs a proper graph. The writing team failed here because the story about Mallamma had a good start but the character of Rajanna started as a hero and the audience cannot connect with the character straightaway because they are not emotionally connected with the character and that is the reason his death evokes no response but audience feel connected with Mallamma when her dream of meeting Nehru is fulfilled.
Even a legend like NTR was scared to do a Alluri and such films work very rarely. The part of Mallamma is surely on the ranks of Osey Ramulamma and the Rajanna character has a lot of genuinity in it and it is this honesty which makes Rajanna worth a watch. Such honest and authentic films will surely change the course of Tollywood.
Such attempts should not be reviewed in terms of ratings but encouraged in terms of patronage.

The story begins with Karthik (varun) who is a free spirited guy and doesn’t want to fall in love as he feels that restricts his independence. He comes across Madhulatha (preetika) who has a strong belief in love. Few incidents happen and Madhu falls in love with Karthik. Added to her luck, her father (kasi viswanath) and Karthik’s father (nasser) are good friends. Madhu reveals her thoughts to her father and Karthik’s father is also happy. Karthik is not but due to inevitable situation he says yes. He decides to break this relation and for this, he catches Vara Prasad (ranadheer) who has loved Madhu from many years. Karthik begins to train Prasad so that Madhu can fall in love with him. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Varun Sandesh has given an energetic performance and delivers his stuff as required but he has to come out of his routine acts. Preethika Rao was cute but not pretty, she has a good sensuous appeal and performing talent, she must focus on those.Nasserwas natural. Kasi Viswanath was standard.Kotawas good. Vennela Kishore, Tagubothu Ramesh, Ali brought few smiles. Swetha Basu was there for two scenes. Pragathi, Surekha Vani, Vijay Sai and others were there to fill the screen.

Story:
Arjun (Aravind Krishna) is a video game developer who stays in Hyderabad in his own flat. Vandana (Nikitha Narayan) is a fashion designer who comes to Hyderabad to achieve big in her career. They become friends ‘accidentally’ and after a bad experience with her roommates, Nikitha comes and stays in Arjun’s apartment.
Vandana parents (Jayasudha and Sarath Babu) object this love and what happens next forms the rest of the story.
Performances:
Aravind Krishna is good looking and a decent actor. He should work on his expressions though.Nikitha Narayan is fine. She did a good job for a debutante. Jayasudha plays a vital role and she is as bankable as ever. Sarath Babu is natural. Pavitra is good. Vennela Kishore as ‘Sujatha’ is a riot in few scenes. ‘Tagubothu Ramesh’ got a lengthy and noticeable role after a long time. He is Okay. The guys who played heroes colleagues annoys with silly conversations. Sundeep Kishan of Prasthanam fame appeared in a song.

Analysis:
When the director named his film as ‘It’s My Love Story’, one would expect it to be a unique love story. Sadly, IMLS is not unique but just a rehash of lots of love stories that we have already seen hundreds of times on the silver screen. A couple facing problems from parents and finally their love triumphs is not a great or special love story.
Director should have dealt this routine love story in an engaging and entertaining way. He tried to infuse freshness in the first hour, which is fairly decent. But in the second hour, the film started to head in a beaten track with ‘predictable’ twists. As the film reaches the finale, it gets on to your nerves with a pathetic storytelling. The ending leaves you gasping and exhausted because it could have been ended that way at the interval itself.
When the director is going to conclude this story on a predictable note, there is no point in dragging it for that much time. Comedy scenes are fine at few instances and cheap/vulgar most of the time. Only saving grace for this stale love story is the music. Songs are good on ears and a couple of them would stay with you.

Story:
A different tale, the story begins with Janardhan (ranbir) who hails from a middle class background in Delhi but dreams of becoming a rock star. As expected, his musical trysts lead him to insults. He realizes that the only way to get to the other side is through a heartbreak as many successful rock stars have painful past. He decides to woo Heer (nargis), the rich, unavailable, beautiful girl and go through the heartbreak. In this process, Janardhan becomes Jordan and reaches the heights but at the cost of losing his heart. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. |
Presentation:
The director has come up with a soulful storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was smooth but not engaging at all points. The dialogues were matured. The script was written well but the screenplay was average. Background score was very nice and all the songs were impressive. Cinematography was excellent. Editing was a bit jerky, during the second half. Costumes were stylish and trendy while the art department was natural. Ranbir Kapoor gives a rocker of performance and impresses. Nargis looks very pretty but she must work on her performance part. Shammi Kapoor was superb. Aditi was just okay. Kumud was very nice. Piyush was apt. The others did their bit as required. |
Conclusion:
As such, the film came in with a lot of hype and many expected it to be a heart squeezing tale. However, it isn't really as intense as was meant to be. While the first half is brilliant and has got very impressive moments, things begin to tumble during the second half. There were few logical loopholes and the climax is somewhat unexpected which could lead to mixed reactions from audience. At the box office, the openings will be high but it could turn out to be an above average grosser. Verdict: Not that rocking... |

INTRO:
Avasarala Srinivas and Vijay Sai are coming together in and as Vara Prasad Potti Prasad. Renowned for their sense of humor, the two guarantee us a laughter riot in the film. A low-budget flick it is, the movie also assures some hummable tunes and cherishing moments to take back home.
PERFORMANCES:
Avasarala as Vara Prasad is at his usual best. He came up with the same old performance like that in his earlier works and tries nothing different to talk about. Vijay Sai as Potti Prasad is decent enough and does what he is expected to do. However, it appears as if he has done over-action at times. But you would get convinced thinking that director actually might have made him do that so as to churn out some laughs. RK too added wit to the story. He is quite hilarious in few scenes. It’s surprising to know his funny sides since we’ve seen him in a negative role and thus proves that comedy too is his cup of tea. The character he enacted draws similarities to the roles attempted by Srihari and Jaya Prakash Reddy. The other actors may be ignored.
TECHNICAL ANALYSIS:
Cinematography is just average. Music has no scope in the film and moreover, Sai Kathik’s tunes are not remarkable. Background score is more of director Vamsy’s style. It could be the intention of the director, probably. Screenplay is dull. Story is silly and has traces of Kishkinda Kanda. Narration is more like of a serial. Dialogues are decent but in parts, especially the ones penned by RK. Satya Varanasi’s direction is not up to the mark.

ANALYSIS:
The flick has been made to stand in queue for years now to see the light. It’s more like a Tom & Jerry show or that of Amrutham serial being aired on Gemini TV. Satya Varanasi is understood to have made the film this way since he actually included the cartoon characters of Tom and Jerry when the titles were rolling. I agree there are certain funny moments in it, but the story is illogical and makes no sense. Dialogues are well-written in bits and parts. Those who rarely come down to theatres might get impressed with this, but definitely not the regulars. Such is the heights of stupidity of the characters that they buy radio though they have no idea about operating it and what is it used for. It also reminds us of Jim Carrey’s works sometimes. I realized now why it was gathering dust all these years!
VERDICT:
The movie fits into the bill of a television serial. I sympathize with the producer for investing his money in such a silly project. It gives us laughs rarely and is most of the times illogical. A serious film-buff would hate it. So, you better prefer watching TV soap rather than this!

Storyline:
Vachadu Gelichadu is the Telugu version of the Tamil film Vandhan Vendran. The film features Jeeva playing the role of a profession boxer. Tapsee pannu will be seen as architect. Ramana (Nandha) an underworld don in Mumbai, Arjun(Jiiva) a boxer and Anjana (Taapsee), a beautiful girl. These three characters are so adamant in nature and one particular incident brings them together.
Maybe, the story may sound too simple from your perception, but Kannan has gone ahead with his out-of-box-thinking, thereby letting us go through a belt of surprises during the climax portions. Possibly, revealing them will become the major spoiler here. It is well known that to gain something, one should lose some other thing. But Vachadu Gelichadu tells about how to get something without losing anything.
Performances:
Jiiva did well within his limitations, he had no scope to show off his skills. Tapsee who looked fabulous in Telugu flicks like Jumandi Nadam and Mr.Perfect seemed out of place in this film. She is just average. Nanda is adequate in a pivotal role with controlled performance. Santhanam comedy in not upto the mark. All the other actors are passable.
Technical Aspects:
The entire script is devised to cater to class audiences in the first half and mass lovers in the second half. But then, editing and screenplay are worse. They spoiled the whole show. So is the case with direction. It’s so poor. Lighting andsettings suited too well for the theme, which in turn contributed to make cinematography first-rate. Thaman’s tunes are quite soothing to the ears and the background music goes well with the situations. R Kannan’s direction is commendable, but he fails to give drift to the script, which loses track while progressing in the Pre and Post interval episodes.
Survi Verdict:
Vachadu Gelichadu may be categorized in the list of boring films that were dubbed in the recent times. The film starts off with an interesting note but loses its path while progressing. The first half is adequate. The second-half on theopposite is an exception since it has a couple of okay twists and sentimental climax. Lack of twists and simple plot creates no impact. Skip it in THEATRES.

What’s it about!
Balu (Manoj), an aspiring singer in Bhadrachalam, comes to Hyderabad to test luck in music field. Sravya (Tapsee) comes down to Hyderabad from USA and tries her luck in the same way too. They fall in love. She stays in Hyderabad at Captain Rao (Mohan Babu) and he tries to separate them. The rest of the film is all about Balu winning singing competition and his love.
Analysis
Veteran director K Raghavendra Rao redefined the way commercial movies are made in Telugu with Adavi Ramudu (1976). Since then he became synonymous for commercial masala films although he made some memorable classics in between. But again, like many other yesteryears directors, he has lost his Midas-touch and has been making films with his old school of thought. Jhummandi Naadam is no exception. It stills smells of old wine despite the filmmaker’s attempt to put in new cans of reels. With a predictable story provided by Bhupathi Raja and cut-paste scenes of several hit movies, the screenplay and narration style lacks any freshness to suit the current audiences. Raghavendra Rao in usual manner completely focuses on songs (which are undoubtedly good, thanks to Keeravan’s melodious score) and exposing of heroine.
The so-called conflict between Manoj and Mohan Babu, the comedy scenes also lack the punch.
Performances
Manchu Manoj always exudes high energy and he shines in this film too although his characterization is not that pretty novel. He even excels in scenes involving his father veteran actor Mohan Babu. But he needs to show off consistency in portraying the role till the end. On his part, Mohan Babu does underplay to make his son to steal the show. Tapsee, the new girl, has shown all her vital assets to please the audiences but doesn’t have any material to become a fine actress. The less said about her facial expressions and acting abilities the better. All other actors - Tanikella, Sudha, Suman, Pragathi, and host of other comedians, have done okay job. Ahuthi Prasad does villain role.
The film completely belongs to M M Keeravani. Probably after Magadheera, he has given a musical score that became an asset to the movie. Although his songs are not completely novel, they are mellifluous to the ears and Raghavendra Rao, the master of picturisation of songs, evocatively films them to please our eyes. Senior cameraman S Gopal Reddy’s visuals are also appealing. Veteran director Raghavendra Rao should come out from his old school of thought – trying to manage the film with some good – to stand in today’s race.
Bottom-line!
Jhummandi Naadam has nothing new to offer except some mellifluous numbers and eye-catching ‘glamour’ here and there. It is predictable stuff and old wine in old bottle.

A rock star (Manchu Manoj) is on way to Hyderabad from Bangalore to perform a show along with his group. A cable operator (Allu Arjun), who lives in a slum in Hyderabad, aspires to lead rich life by marrying his rich girl friend (Deeksha Seth). A sex worker (Anushka) runs away from her brothel house in Amala Puram to lead her own life in Hyderabad. A poor weaver (Nagayya) in Sirisilla comes to Hyderabad along with his daughter-in-law to sell off her Kidney to clear the debts. Having humiliated by a police cop and losing his twins, a Muslim guy (Manoj Bajpayee) plans to head for Dubai. Due to various circumstances, they all land up in a Hospital. What happens next is rest of the story.
Analysis
Director Krish won huge accolades for his debut movie, Gamyam. So naturally Vedam has created lots of buzz. Does Vedam live up to the hoopla? Well, Vedam is not regular commercial cinema. Its multiple-stories narration is somewhat new to us despite a similar film Om Shanti came few months back. In that way, Vedam sets new trend but more than the movie, its lead hero’s performance and some other actors’ acting skills impress us.
Allu Arjun steals the show with his honest and earnest performance. He is the pillar. In fact, it is his film although there are several other lead actors. He gives the movie’s most heart-warming performance in many sequences. Although Vedam does have some poignant moments especially in the second half but in the entirety it loses steam. The film’s strength lies in the last 20 minutes of the movie and great visuals by cameraman Gnanasekhar. Rather than the script, and direction, actors shine in the movie. Like in his first film, the director has borrowed the basic theme from a Hollywood movie. This time, he lifts theme, plotline, several characterizations from multiple Oscar winner Crash (2004). The Oscar winning film explored racism in America. Here in Vedam, he speaks about the same prejudices society puts on a section of the society. Although the idea is lofty, the director has presented in preachy manner.
One thing that is nice in the movie is that it is devoid of clichéd scenes like sumos blasting in the air, hero fighting with a sword, etc.
Analysis
Although the film deals about several characters, Allu Arjun gets the lengthy role and he is exceptional in his role. He delivers his career best performance. Anushka in the role of sex-worker is good but her character lacks the depth. She is sex-woker by choice but she is never shown in offering sex, instead she always escapes from the act. What kind of characterisation is this? Manoj has equally lengthy role but his role is hardly connected to main story (wonder why his name is given as guest appearance as he has enough screen space). Manoj Bajpayee, the powerhouse of performance, brought dignity to the forthright Muslim guy. Newcomer Nagayya has body like a poor weaver but he seems to have no experience in acting. Sharanya, on the other hand, as his daughter in law gives first rate performance. Ravikanth in the role of cop (a straight copy from Crash) is topnotch. In other roles, the new girl Deeksha Seth looks glamorous by acting like a doll and Lekha Washington is okay. Brahmanandam is hardly there. Raghu Babu is good. So is Satyam Rajesh.
Among the technical crew, cinematographer Gnaneshwar deserves all the praise. The film has got classy look and his visuals are so good. Music by M M Keeravani is major drawback. As a director, Krish has nothing new to score with this film. He just borrowed several scenes from various movies and used clichéd scenes. His pseudo-intellectual dialogues and preachy narration irritates after a point of time. There is a dialogue in the film. Perugu Vada Lo Perugu Vuntundi Kani Pulihora Lo Puli Undadu..Smart dialogues Evadaina Ceheptadu. That sums up for Krish too. Taking some phrases from here and there and turning them into dialouges is not a great thing.
Bottom-line
Vedam has good performances, terrific cinematography and some heart-wrenching moments. Allu Arjun and Anushka should be appreciated for accepting this kind of movies, which doesn’t give them commercial mileage much. More than the director, it is actors who have brought novelty.

The film is about an honest cop who is specialized in encounters. Becoming a police officer is Gangaram’s (Gopichand) childhood dream and when he joins the police force, he starts eliminating mafia men owned by Khalid (Kelly Dorjee). With the help of his DIG (Nasser), he kills several mafia men in encounters. On the other hand, an event manager Pavitra (Priyamani) falls in love with Gangaram. Pavitra’s mother (Roja) hates men and is against marriage. So she doesn’t accept Pavitra’s love for Gangaram. Meanwhile, Gangaram is wrongly framed by DIG and his trusted aide in a false case, on the insistence of Khalid who operates mafia here from Malaysia. How Gangaram comes out clean from the case and finishes his mission forms the rest of the story.
Analysis
Golimaar script is designed on the life of real life Mumbai encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Although Ram Gopal Varma in Hindi and Gowtham Menon in Tamil and Telugu made films on the life of encounter cops, Puri Jagannadh has tried to present in his own style. The film offers nothing new; nothing is exciting in the movie. It is strictly an okay movie. In the first half, Priyamani steals the show with her drunkard antics and one-liners, post interval the movie shifts to action.
Lack of entertainment or catchy songs is another drawback. Some of the dialogues by Puri are good, and the pre-interval scene and pre-climax twist are nice.
Performances
Gopichand is okay in the role of encounter cop. Priyamani steals the show in the first half but after a time, she becomes repetitive. Roja, who was recently seen in Sambho Shiva Sambho in a politician's role, makes a thorough comeback and this time she plays role of a mother to Priyamani. Though she did the role of a mother in Sambho Shiva Sambho also, it was more a politician's role than a mother's and thus the role of a mother in this film is more like her first time on the screen (first time as a mother of one of the lead roles) but Roja proves her mettle. Kelly Dorjee as the main villain is perfect, and so is Nasser in the role of a DIG. Except one melodious song shot on the beaches, Chakri’s music is mediocre; the background score is straight lift from Pokiri. Cinematography by Sham K Naidu is top class. Puri Jagannadh proves once again that he writes dialogues superbly than most of our current writers/directors. The only problem with his films seems to be that he is increasingly repeating the same structure for all his films and therefore his films have become monotonous.
Bottom-line
Golimaar is strictly okay. Nothing new, nothing exciting. Just plain, ordinary, masala action film from Puri.

Ashok Deva (Arjun) becomes a don in Mumbai after fighting against a mafia leader. Soon he loses his wife in the fight in mafia rival killings, so he leaves the city and lands in a village on the banks of Godavari in Andhra Pradesh. He stays in the village along with his sister Priya (Priya Anand). And the village head’s son Rama Krishna (Ram) falls in love with Priya and in one of his encounters with another mafia don, he comes to know the real story of Ashok Deva. How street smart Rama Krishna solves the problems in the end forms rest of the story.
Analysis!
Biggest problem with so-called mass-masala action entertainers in Telugu is that they lack proper script. Most directors just mix several blockbusters together and write one or two interesting scenes (for them ‘blocks’), and try to put them in new bottle (in new cans). Director Sri Vaas, who made debut with ‘Lakshyam’, has done the same: he tried to rehash Rajnikant starrer Basha with other commercial hits of Telugu films. None of the scenes – heroine falling in love with hero after initial misunderstanding, a maradalu chasing bava for love, a father scolding hero, a mother supporting him, a brother behaving like a dummy, a gang of friends praising the hero - are novel. Everything is predictable and routine. Where the director has succeeded is that he didn’t put audiences in guessing the next scene as everyone easily tell what follows the next.
Sri Vaas’s first Lakshyam was also predictable mass flick but it had ‘sentiment and emotional’ backdrop to hold the audiences’ interest. Here it doesn’t work. A very tedious exercise in making another masala fare.
Performances
Ram is known for bringing high energy on to the screen. He does justice to his role. Arjun has not much length of role but he has brought dignity to the character. Priya Anand as the main heroine is okay. Bindu Madhavi plays unimportant second lead but it is nice to see Telugu speaking girls playing the lead roles. Gracy Singh as Arjun’s wife in a brief role is okay. Brahamanandam has tried to provide comic relief.
NTR has provided an introductory voice-over but that hardly has any scope for a big star like NTR to narrate it. A big hero like NTR should accept such obligations only when his voice brings some value to the film/story, as it was in the case of Mahesh Babu doing for Jalsa and Amitabh’s for Lagaan, other wise it would remain just a gimmick like what Chiru did for Varudu.
Technically too the film doesn’t score much brownie points. Sekhar V Joseph’s has done what is required for the film through his lenses. For a 200th movie, one expects better musical score from M M Keeravani. His songs are uninspiring. Ratnam’s dialogues are adequate. Action stunts (by Vijay) are good but they are too lengthy. Director Sri Vaas has failed both as story writer (by rehashing from several scenes) and as director to sustain the interest. Probably second movie syndrome! Producer Dil Raju has put on lot of expenditure to make the film grandeur but he should have concentrated on script than providing budget.
Bottom-line!
Rama Rama Krishna Krishna is an attempt to put old wine in new bottle but both bottle and the wine are not attractive. An outdated script with predictable narration.

What’s it about!
Sreemannarayana (Balakrishna) is a lecturer in a college in Hyderabad but he doesn’t tolerate any injustice and bashes up the wronged guys. A voluptuous female colleague (Namita) loves him, and so does Janaki (Sneha Ullal) who Sreemannarayana saves from goons. When a rowdy (Aditya Menon) from Vizag comes to take away Janaki from Sreemannarayana, a flashback is revealed. 30 years ago, in Bobbili, a family of landlords treats the local people as slaves and kills if anyone revolts against them. Enters a foreign-returned doctor Narasimha (Balakrishna) belonging to the Bobbili royal dynasty to save the people. Within no time, he takes law into his hands and becomes savior, but he and his wife (Nayanatara) are killed in a fight in the end. It is now Sreemannarayana’s job to finish the mission.
Analysis
It has been six long years since Balakrishna delivered a hit. His last blockbuster was Lakshmi Narasimha (2004). All the movies that came during this period disappointed his fans and general audiences alike. But his fans can rejoice now. Balakrishna’s latest flick Simha is packed with right commercial ingredients to satisfy them. Although the film has nothing new to tell, second half is packaged well. Soul and highpoint of the film is scenes involving the second Balakrishna’s character - that of a doctor. Though violence is excessive, action episodes and editing is fine. And also Balakrishna looking ferocious again in key scenes has elevated the movie. High-voltage action-dialogues is his forte and he does it with finesse this time.
First half is mediocre; second half saves the movie. For die-hard fans of Balakrishna, Simha entertains to the core. For other audiences, it seems an average fare. On the whole, it is a better film for Balakrishna in the long time.
Performances
Balakrishna looks good in the role of doctor. Unlike his regular movies, he is restrained and yet very ferocious when required. He has also tried to come up with some steps in songs. Nayanatara as a jamindari wife looks royal and beautiful. Her role is minuscule but makes impact. While Namita looks unappealing in her oversized figure, Sneha Ullal appears like a kid in front of Balakrishna. K R Vijaya as grandmother is okay. Aditya Menon and Malayalam Sukumar as antagonists are perfect. Kota Srinivas Rao once again shows how good an actor he is. Comedians like Venumadhav, Brahmanandam, Dharmavarapu, and Krishna Bhagawan try hard to make us laugh but fail miserably.
Camera work (Wilson and Prasad) is first rate. Music by Chakri is also good. Editing is nice. Director Boyapati has tried to play safe with the same time-tested mass elements that are seen in films like Narasimha Naidu, Samara Simha Reddy and Magadheera.
Bottom-line!
After a long time, Balakrishna’s movie comes with right commercial ingredients. Second half is asset to Balakrishna’s Simha. On the whole the film is a pucca commercial entertainer.

What’s it about!Prabhas (Prabhas) is a happy-go-lucky youth and adores his father (Prabhu) who dotes on him. One day, a girl (Sraddha Das), proposes to him and when he rejects her she tries to commit suicide. Her father (Mukesh Rishi), a dada, kidnaps his friends and demands Prabhas to get married to his daughter. Then, Prabhas narrates a story that he is in love with a girl Nandini (Kajal) in Switzerland and she is now in coma as she met with an accident. With this tragic story, the dada excuses him. Later, it is revealed that it is just an imaginative story created by Prabhas to escape the situation but suddenly in his real life too, a Nandini (Kajal), his child hood friend, enters into his life. Then his life changed forever.
